A bright light as the days get darker.

Beth Bundy

The businesses in my neighborhood on NE 42nd Ave are booming.  I have been trying to get more involved in my local community for the past year and have been chatting with people, going to coffee hours, and volunteering my time through Our 42nd Ave.  Yesterday, I finally had the chance to meet Inger McDowell-Hartye who sells gift boxes With Love, From PDX and runs a small workshop space on the corner of NE 42nd and Sumner.  It was great to meet her and hear about her business and work in the community.  She is energetic and creative and I look forward to working with her more in the future!

I am hoping to rent the space from her and host some workshops this holiday season.  I think I am going to focus on parent/child classes since the days are getting shorter and I think parents will be looking for something for their families to do on these dark afternoons.  Daylight savings happened just last night so now here in Portland it will be getting dark around 5pm.  Offering somewhere warm and fun for families to hang out and create would be a treat for us all.

I think I found a little spark in the space that Inger offers!  Stay tuned for more info about my upcoming classes.
